Paint by the Pond is the September entry in the Ijams Park Creative Series: two hours on Sunday late morning, forty-five dollars, easels set up on the bank of the pond with the water and the treeline as the subject. It is a workshop rather than a class, which in practice means nobody checks whether you can already paint.
Where it sits in the day
Eleven to one on a Sunday is a good slot — the banding crew has packed up, the bluegrass has not started, and the pond is quiet. It is also the hottest part of the day, and the shade on the bank is patchy, so a hat is not optional.
The Creative Series keeps going after this weekend: a hooping workshop on the 24th and stained glass on the 26th. These cap small and are worth booking rather than turning up for.
