Bourbon, cigars and a seersucker dress code on the Kern's rooftop Thursday night

- Sundresses and seersucker — it's in the name

Kern's has a roof, and Thursday night somebody is finally doing the obvious thing with it. Alchemy Cigar Lounge is running an evening called Sundresses and Seersuckers up there, seven to nine, forty dollars a ticket.
What forty dollars buys
An Angel's Envy tasting, a welcome cocktail on arrival, a cigar paired to what you're drinking, light bites and a menu built for the night. It is unapologetically a dress-up occasion — the name is also the instruction — which is a rarer invitation in South Knoxville than you'd think.
The nice absurdity of it
Worth pausing on the setting. This is a bourbon-and-cigar evening held on top of a building that spent most of the last century making sandwich bread for East Tennessee. The ovens are gone, the brick isn't, and now there's a bar where the roofline used to just be a roofline. Tickets go through the host.
